(7,323 posts)I went to log on to my facebook page today. I haven't visited it in almost a year. They told me my account was removed for violating their terms. WTF?

(103,856 posts)never wanted it, so I guess I am "safe"..
but then I knew going in, that facebook was never "private"..and I never planned to get my "news" or political info from "friends" and friends of friends" or any odd combination..
I only use facebook to play the free slots and to see where in the world my kids are
Today one son is still in Singapore and another son is headed back from the Seychelles..( I warned him to stay away from Russians who want to have a beer with him)

(34,113 posts)Newsfeed is enabled by default (and can't actually be disabled.
The only way to prevent new items from appearing in the feed is to unfollow every friend and/or page (which are - by default- followed when you "friend" them)

(103,856 posts)at least to my knowledge.. it may be automatic..but I only see what I have set up.. I see no newsfeed..so I guess I am using the "ignorance is bliss" format :p

(34,113 posts)that's the newsfeed. When you log into facebook, you should see a "What's on your mind, SoCalDem?" Followed by a post/status from a friend. That post is part of your newsfeed - and every other post that follows is your newsfeed.
A newsfeed isn't "news" like from a newspaper - it "news" from anyone who is your friend. When you accept a friend request, you automatically follow that person and facebook feeds you a stream of status updates from those people (news). (Click your Friends list and hover on any friend's name - the middle box on the bottom says "following," most likely with a checkmark to the left. That checkmark means you're following them - and their posts show up in your newsfeed. You are most likely also following your slots pages, and they are almost certainly part of your newsfeed, as well.)

(13,340 posts)I seem to be in the clear for now. Though frankly, I am not sensitive about what I put on Facebook. I always assume it is widely available.
