'Romney Has Already Disqualified Himself'
"Travel educates. As a result one should assume that Mitt Romney, the Republican challenger of Barack Obama, wants to learn something during his visit to Israel. Wrong! Almost everything that the candidate organized in Jerusalem fuels the impression that he doesn't want to try understanding how complicated the Middle East situation is. Instead, Romney paints the crisis region in black and white: Israel is good and the rest -- the Palestinians and the mullahs in Iran -- are lumped together."
"This one-sided world view is less dumb than it is coldly calculated. Romney is soliciting campaign donations in Jerusalem (the minimum price for two plates at breakfast is $50,000.) And he is ensnaring Jewish voters at home."
"The trip to Israel may help Romney in the short-term. But in the long-term the Republican has done damage. The Middle East needs the US as a mediator. As such, the presidential hopeful has already disqualified himself."

(10,252 posts)Mormons believe that between the 3 days when Jesus was crucified and resurrected that he came to North America to save the native Americans, because they were the 10 lost tribes of Israel. They don't explain how Jesus got there, or how he learned to speak the language. How wacky is that? No wonder Mitt doesn't want to talk about his religion.

" mormon " bible " .

(12,272 posts)Mitt's candidacy is forcing me to remember things I would rather forget. Yes, it is wacky, the imaginings of a con man, but the real wacky part is how those imaginings have become a wealthy, influential religion.

The Romney campaign should have known better than to go there.

(10,618 posts)just about half of the citizens of the U.S. will just love him to bits and trip over each other in their rush to the polls and elect the idiot, proving once more that Americans are among the stupidest people on the planet.

(29,095 posts)which is why he has to spend TWENTY FIVE times as much money
as the President to even come in CLOSE in the polls.
And if Americans are "among the stupidest people on earth" how is it
we elected our uber- smart president Obama, the First Chief Excecutive of Color in the Western World?
I'll listen to all the static about our "stupidity" and "racism" etc, when I see a country
like the Formerly Great Britain do something like it.

(18,124 posts)Obama's election also brought racism out against "different" peoples like I haven't experienced since the 50's and 60's. So yes we did show SOME intelligence in electing him and I'm beginning to think that election was a surprise to all the "good, real americans" and that's changed since the racists got energized by the 'birther' mess and other racially tinged allegations. I hope your observations/optimism is spot on.

(602 posts)For Romney, his recent travels have only eradicated any illusions that he might just somehow, despite all known flaws, make a decent president.
If nothing else, the president is an actor on the world stage.
Romney was like some goofball who ran onstage uninvited, did a few absurd stunts in quick order and then disappeared behind the curtain, leaving everybody stunned at the mind boggling foolishness they had just witnessed.
Romney must NEVER be president. Never.

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
