SCOOP: ABC News has learned Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the SD of NY is recused

SCOOP: ABC News has learned Geoffrey Berman, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, is recused from the Michael Cohen investigation. He had no role in raid of Cohen's office.

That seems pretty significant.

I'm so glad trump doesn't have a dog. He'd be punting that pooch down the hallways all day long.

He's miserable and I'm loving it

There are recusals all the time because of personal or professional relationships. I don't see the point.

HOWEVER, for Trump, recusal absolutely means he's not going to help him, doesn't it? Just like that total disappointment of an AG, Jeff Sessions, who recused himself and didn't tell Trump in advance so Trump could find a more personally loyal person to appoint to the job -- someone who would save him from Mueller.

When someone recuses themselves the case is generally taken over by someone subordinate to the person recusing. So maybe that person will "help" knowing his boss would like to see that result.

Trump thinks recusals by people he appointed are disloyal And a missed opportunity for one of his appointees to fix things for him.

He’s been whining about it since day one regarding Jeff sessions. He was just whining about it again yesterday.

Of course there’s always the chance the next person down the totem pole can put their thumb on the scale. It sure doesn’t look like that’s what’s going on. Because raiding an attorney’s office is about the most serious thing they can do besides
Indicting/arresting someone.

Sessions recusal lead to Mueller rather then Sessions squashing the investigation or making it very narrow. Trump may have expected Berman to not allow a raid on his lawyer.

If hebpisses off Republicans by being involved with “getting” Trump, he can’t get confirmed. If he can’t get confirmed, he’ll be in a much weaker position to help the GOP crime organization.

...as the pols who put them there.

Most of these folks care primarily about the law, not politics. And for the folks out there who want to make hay about who's responsible for the raids, look no further than the judge who approved the search warrants.
