Kellyanne Conway's husband just schooled Trump on the limits of attorney-client privilege

George Conway, the husband of top Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, has given President Donald Trump a lesson in the limits of attorney-client privilege.

Responding to Trump’s Tuesday morning declaration that “attorney-client privilege is dead” in the wake of an FBI raid on lawyer Michael Cohen, Conway simply tweeted out a link to laws regarding obtaining search warrants for attorneys in the United States.

@realDonaldTrump
Attorney–client privilege is dead!

Specifically, the law states that “there are occasions when effective law enforcement may require the issuance of a search warrant for the premises of an attorney who is a subject of an investigation, and who also is or may be engaged in the practice of law on behalf of clients.”

As part of the process for obtaining a warrant, the guidelines state that “the affidavit in support of the search warrant may attach any written instructions or, at a minimum, should generally state the government’s intention to employ procedures designed to ensure that attorney-client privileges are not violated.”

He has lived a life filled with lies, fraud, cheating and criminality but has escaped consequences. It seems like extreme white male privilege. Kids are sent to prison for relatively minor infractions but he has been allowed to act illegally his entire life. It seems as though much of the trauma we are experiencing as a nation today could have been avoided if he had been stopped and prosecuted decades ago. Republicans always tout their law and order bona fides except when it comes to wealthy white miscreants. If/when we awaken from this nightmare I hope LE can be made to refocus. He should have been prosecuted. This could have been avoided.

Sorry. Rant over.

2. So the investigators have to use procedures so as NOT to abuse atty-client privilege.

That's a bummer.

Whatever evidence they get, it will be attacked as being, or using or relying on, attorney-client privilege, and therefore that evidence should be tossed out. It'll be a tough fight.

Bit it WILL be a fight, if there's anything there. Cohen is no longer Trump's personal attorney. Bwahahahaha.

Or does trump have double standards when it comes to the political ideology of husbands vs wives?

It is a very interesting dynamic....

Her reputation is totally destroyed by consistent lying to the public in his service. Perhaps the husband is trying to signal to the world that they can discern truth, but it's just her job to lie.

Who would hire this woman after Trump is removed? Career over.

being a patriotic American wedded to the truth, that a man who sees Trump for what he is and recognizes his criminality and the threat he represents to our democracy, could be married to her.

when i went to DC for Stewart and Colbert's Rally to Restore Sanity, I took a picture of the backs of a couple pushing a stroller with a baby in it. the guy's shirt said "I love my conservative wife" and her's said "I love my liberal husband." i thought that was very sweet - my own parents were the same way.

but Conway goes much further than being conservative. She lies constantly to prop up the worst president this country has ever been cursed with. married to that? does not compute for me.

... which makes her a phony who would do anything for a paycheck. She lies and brown-noses when she's in front of Trump, but behind his back it's a completely different story. If Cheeto ever finds out, THAT's how she'll get fired, not because of anything her husband does.

Don't forget that the reason Conway came to work on Trump's campaign was that Robert Mercer wanted her there. She worked for Mercer first.
