Today's lesson: Underestimate a porn star at your own peril

If you've ever watched an adult video (hey, some people do), You see individuals engaged in the most basic human physical act. What you don't see, before the more prosperous performers get in front of the camera, are the hours spent working with directors, producers, talent agents and lawyers. You don't learn about the degrees they earned before getting into porn or nights at the business school. And unless you've read the credits, many of them are working on the film behind the camera AND in front.

2. I briefly knew a porn actress

It wasn't a romantic relationship! She lived across the hall from a friend and we'd all occasionally hang out and share some weed, wine and whines.

She told me a lot of interesting things about the porn business and how it has evolved. It's really fairly business-like, these days. In earlier times, it was far more abusive and exploitative but today, most of the business is fairly legit.

Importantly, many of the women are tough as nails when it comes to their employment and compensation. I don't think I'd enjoy negotiating with Stormy Daniels!
