(27,814 posts)Common sense dictated that eventually the gang at FOX-News would start turning against their "pResident" the minute they realized the noose around his neck was too tight to wiggle out of.
Watch for the Republican rats to start fleeing the Trump Titanic - it will be slow, but it will be sure.
They've simply been left with no other choice. At this juncture, it's the Party or Trump - and the party's survival is more important to the GOP powers-that-be than the idiot they elected, and ultimately realized they couldn't control.

(27,814 posts)... just assumed that with the mention of Syria, it was a current tweet.
However, I still stand by what I said. I think FOX and other RW outlets are going to start distancing themselves from Trump. Their politics may be stupid - but they're smart enough to realize that it's time to jump ship if they're going to salvage what's left of the GOP.
It's not like Republicans are known for their loyalty to anyone who represents an anchor wrapped around the party's neck.

(10,721 posts)That's the dilemma for Republicans in Congress and Faux Noise.

(27,814 posts)But the Republican base - as has been proven over the past year plus - is comprised of the most easily manipulated people on the planet.
The GOP convinced their voters that Trump was an honest-to-a-fault, savvy businessman, a true patriot who has the betterment of the middle-class at heart.
FFS, they even convinced them that a self-declared pussy-grabber is actually a devout Christian.
Given the above, the "base" will be just as easily led away from Trump as they were to support him - and we are at that point where the PTB in the GOP don't have a lot of wiggle room.
I know the Republicans have been playing The Big Stall for months - hoping that they could hold things together until November, trying to present a united front in order to mitigate the damage they'll suffer in the midterms.
But today's events are a game-changer that can't be ignored. No doubt the GOP is in complete chaos at this point - trying to weigh sticking with Trump until the midterm votes are in against the continuing damage that's being inflicted on their "brand". IOW, they're between a rock and a hard place.
And it's only April. I'm sure the Republicans are already in a panic over what more could happen between now and the midterms - and they know it's only going to get worse, not better.
The Republican "base" are sheep - they'll go where they are led by the Judas goats who are their leaders without thinking twice.
