Obviously, they convinced a judge to issue a warrant in this case. Perhaps they are testing how effective the tactic is. Chances are that all of Trump's lawyers are covering for crimes of one form or another. That would hardly be a surprise.

It's getting closer to Trump by the day.

15. Isn't it also about jurisdiction?

SDNY would certainly cover Michael Cohen in Manhattan, while Mueller is working in DC-northern Virginia. Maybe it's harder for Mueller to prove jurisdiction for some of these crimes? I don't know, just guessing.

Sure hope this works. Nice partnering with Southern District of NY too.

in our houses, they would just ask politely if we could hand it to them at the front door, instead of getting a warrant.

not only is getting a warrant for a search when it is believed a crime has been committed appropriate, it would in fact be a SHOCKING display of incompetence NOT to get a warrant.

the ones pertinent to the crime they are looking at. Therefore the bunch with the warrant only look at what they need to and aren't "contaminated" but stuff they don't need to see so it protects the other clients Cohen works for.

attorney - client privilege search warrants for an attorney are incredibly hard to get. The same with Dr's. If a search warrant is issued there must be overwhelming cause. A neutral party is sometimes used to go through the records and will only take what is covered under the search warrant. This measure insures that Cohen's other client's information is protected.

7. Abramson is speculating that Mueller referred the case to the US Attorney

in NY because he wants them to go over everything first before he sees it. I think this would be called a taint team. This would be required to make sure no privileged information gets to the prosecutor. But this makes no sense because the US Attorney would need it's own taint team first, so it just adds an extra layer of work. It's more likely Mueller found evidence of crimes not related to Russia. Trump has his fingers in A LOT of cookie jars.
