Its painful to recall that the worlds dumbest man was elected over a most qualified woman, but hope is a danger for the right

This week, I got to see Hillary Clinton speak to a crowd of 600 women when she made an appearance at the women-only social club the Wing. It was strange to watch this brilliant, knowledgeable woman and know that she could have been our president right now. It was painful, actually. And I wasnt the only one who felt it women in the room were openly shedding tears as she spoke. Seeing her was a reminder to many, I think, that weve made so little progress that the worlds dumbest and most awful man could win the presidency over the worlds most qualified woman.
But somehow getting to listen to her talk in a room with only women also made me hopeful. So often women are told to keep quiet and get over it even Clinton, who has been harangued by rightwing media and told to disappear even as they talk about her nearly every day. For a few minutes, we got to be sad together without anyone telling us to suck it up. By the time we left, though, we were angry and inspired a far more dangerous combination for the right.

(11,343 posts)I was so proud to vote for the first woman president of the United States. I had tears of hope and pride when I filled in the space next to her name. The monster that holds the office now will be gone eventually. We have suffered this fool long enough.
We have to hold onto hope for our democracy. We've endured and we will persist! GOTV!!!!

(82,849 posts)As a failed politician in the United States, she is now bound to just fade away from the public consciousness. At least, that's what Newt Gingrich said, and Rick Santorum totally agreed with him. Pat Buchanan chipped in with his two cents, as did Joe Scarborough and Rudy Giuliani. Jeb Bush was on as a special guest, and nodded vigorously in agreement.
