Jimmy Kimmel backing down from Hannity is a crying shame and reaffirms

a common misconception that "we lack backbone" when face with adversity. You can't back down from these people, that is how those type of people have bullied their way thru life.

Shame on you Kimmel

He apologized to the gay community for making a gay joke in the context of the back and forth.

2. The "crying shame" is the characterization that doing the right thing is "backing down."

That statement epitomizes what Kimmel was saying. He is emulating the importance of stopping the ugliness and the us-versus-them attitude. We have been divided purposefully--the old divide and conquer concept, which we are fully engaged in reinforcing.

Kimmel is correct. 1. He was wrong in making fun of the first lady. 2. It was right to attempt to stop the division.

4. #1... NO. He's a comedian. His bit on Melania was not cruel. She is a public figure.

I agree, though that he isn't backing down. He was wrong on using derisive gay stereotypes upon which to base an attack on anyone.

Jummy Kimmel is a wise man and he got the best of Hannity. Hannity is stuck in the mud and Jimmy's above it. Jimmy Kimmel Won.

this feud going forever, if only to help his own ratings, which have beeen worse than Rachel Maddow's.

Kimmel's statement takes a number of sly shots at Hannity. RWers aren't happy about it.

But the statement is a good one and will strike most people as an acceptable way to end this.

As I said when I posted about Kimmel's statement yesterday, he can now go back to turning his wit on more worthy targets than Sean Hannity.

Best to puncture the balloon and let shit settle to the ground rather then escalate. Hannity will reference family in his comments today I'd bet.

I have to say it gets real old when being gay is used as a simile for lacking masculinity and/or strength. It is part of the reason we still don't have openly gay athletes in any of the big four sports or even one openly gay action star in Hollywood. For that matter, it is why some teachers and other professionals have to think about being open.
