Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIn what ways has America changed in the last year?
Many have lost a lot of faith in the ability of our democracy to survive under these circumstances.
Lies, deceit, and corruption have become the norm.
We are no longer the leader of the "free world".
We have lost respect, at home and abroad.
We are the most divided we have been in a very long time.
When this is over, we will not be able to snap our fingers and return to normal.

(1,201 posts)1/5 Americans have protested against Trump, the NRA, or in favor of women.
Special election after special election in deep red areas keep going blue.
Even a few Repubicans, Flake, Corker, McCain, etc. have stated the Trump presidency is a disaster.
All this BEFORE Mueller issues his findings. This year will be seen as the turning point. Keep the faith: We Shall "Overcomb" the Orange Menace!

(33,189 posts)My car was stolen, I was the victim of an armed robbery at a convenience store, My house was vandalized and broken into twice, I had a large monetary value foreign origin identity theft incident. This is off the top of my head and is only me as an individual. It does not include what has happened to even my immediate family.
Welcome to Trump's United States.
Nothing even remotely close to these things happened to me under any previous administration.

o Resurgence of peaceful mass protests (nationwide) in the streets, not seen since the 1960s.
o Awakening and activism of young (high school age) citizens.

(2,857 posts)It had a website address, I went to it and it really was the Klan trying to get new members. Before, they would occasionally put a note with some candy out in people's mailboxes and the local news would freak out. Now they have openly ran an ad in a newspaper.
We have lost all the progress we had made in trying to stamp these racists out

(22,598 posts)it will never be the same again. The battle lines are drawn and the sides are more entrenched than ever. There are things that Trump has done, will do, that could be quickly changed but many will take years or even decades to reverse if ever. There may never be a reckoning but it will be and has been a long and drawn out war with many battles and frankly, I'm doubtful about the Left because they have proven themselves to be fickle and undependable voters, becoming complacent and not persevering in fighting for what's important to them.
But the Trump era, however long it lasts, will leave enduring scars upon America and its people.
The psyche of America has been severely injured.

(32,086 posts)We may be divided, and the divisions may be stark. But, there are way more of us than there are Trump cultists. That's the one saving grace here.
