(2,050 posts)For many a year and in the environmental industry after that.
I started during the St George Basin oil exploration effort in the Being Sea in 1984.
I had training in cleaning up oil spills on open water and on land, I then spent years doing just that.
I watched regulations put into law that tightened the laws pertaining to the oil industry to be more responsible in so many ways, especially after OPA 90 went into effect after the Exxon Valdez debacle.
OPA 90 closed all the loopholes and gave teeth to existing laws and regulations that until that time were not being enforced even though they were on the books.
Just that one thing made everybody in the industry sit up and take notice, an individual that had training and worked in the industry could now be held responsible for failure to report or respond to an oil or chemical spill.
With a PERSONAL non negotiable $250,000 fine.
We were going in the right direction but this piece of shit has put us back DECADES.
I have no words for what I'd like to do to this individual, you have no idea.
question everything
(47,521 posts)is to reverse as many existing laws and regulations as possible. Just for the sake of doing this. With Reagan it was the FDR New Deal and Johnson Great Society and Civil Rights. With the current occupant of the WH, it is everything that Clinton and Obama did, even Bush, I think, that helped individuals here and across the world.
A guest on PBS NewsHour, who was the "right" point, tried to say that Pruitt, and other cabinet members, need expanded security details because they are being threatened and implied that we, the wide audience, do not know everything. Yeah, right..

(2,050 posts)The damage this bastard has done to all our environmental protections will take years to put right, from just one mans dismantling in a little over a year.
My thoughts are that he should be imprisoned and made to work at superfund sites until he is diagnosed with an incurable disease due to less than needed personal protective gear.
He wants to destroy our environment then let him clean it up using the rules he left in place for an environmental worker.
I spent decades around oil and chemicals and believe it or not it was being regulated in a better way as it pertains to the public health.
All gone out the window.
I'm pissed off big time.
