Rafalca is a dressage specialist, not a "3-day-event" all-around horse. DinahMoeHum Jul 2012 #3
So our tax dollars are being spent to subsidize a literal one-trick-pony. Just awesome :sarcasm: Erose999 Jul 2012 #5

What's going on right now is called "event", which used to be called the "3-day-event" because it takes 3 days of competition for both horse and rider:

Day 1: Dressage
Day 2: Cross-country race (against the clock)
Day 3: Show jumping

In other words, this competition is about all-around horses, not dressage or show-jumping specialists. Those comes later in the Games, and those are separate competitions with different horses and riders.
