Trump is a typical 70 year old Fox watcher.

Stupid and misinformed.

He isn't a political mastermind looking for diversions. Half his lies are just untruths he believes. The others are bullshit he thinks of on the spot when caught in other lies.

He ignores the information at his disposal from all his government services.

He is an incurious, ill educated old coot who gets his news from Fox.

And that makes him all the more dangerous.

I’m willing to bet she’s a Deplorable now so I’m fine with it.

The last time we talked she was a Born Again Christian and we argued about God and, to her, his hatred of The Gay. She claimed god is a jealous god who demands obedience and fealty and that he has commanded that she hate Gays. I asked her why god would hate what he created with his supposed unconditional and boundless love. She accused me of trying to brainwash her and order her what to believe. I recognized the religious brainwashing and ended the call as a lost cause.

She wrote me a letter describing in great detail the punishment I was going to get in eternal hell. Three pages of it! I'm pretty sure she enjoyed every imagined gory detail of it.

I did get one valuable thing out of it though. Religious zealots, of which we have plenty, may talk of god’s Great love but what they believe in is his unconditional hatred of those he chooses to hate and his jealousy of their absolute fealty and in his wrath if he’s disobeyed.

They follow Trump with this fealty because he is just like their god. Mean, petty, vindictive, and demanding they hand him their “loyalty” and obedience.

and I have to wonder, if any of them ever read the new testament. How on earth does that kind of hate reflect the teachings of Jesus? It is more cult-like than a religion.

I don't belong to any organized religion, but I do appreciate most of the teachings of Jesus and the only thing close to hate was when he lost his temper at the "money changers".

Asked him why the need for a firearm one time. He claimed he needed it for "protection". Now, he lives in a very small town bordering on Lake Superior, no threats as far I could tell. IF anyone broke into his place they would be after his tv!
I really think he's a trump supporter as trump says (and does) what my brother has longed to for his entire life....porn Star encounters, racist and misogynistic remarks, etc., etc....
Sad and pathetic to think we came from the same environment.....

it was so clear to me: No rational God would impose such silly laws, lack that much compassion or love as to send innocent unbaptized to eternal purgatory, or good people of other religions either, or forbid you to even attend any other churches. By 7th grade, I left the church. Forever. If God wasn't at least as rational as I, they had to have it all wrong. And I firmly believe they do.

There are things beyond our understanding regarding the spiritual realm, but "jealous God" thing is just nuts. How can God be a loving God with that going on? Pfffft

You can get a warped view if you only get your news from any one source. Even outlets on the left. I get mine from NPR, PBS, CBS, MSNBC online, here at DU, and some columnists on Twitter. Some of the more moderate ones balance out some of the more extreme.

Other high level GOP politicians were cynically willing to let FOX mislead on their behalf. They knew better but were craven enough to let them do what they do.

Trump is the first one in a significant position that is actually under the FOX spell.

It is a horrible but not unexpected evolution of the process.

think you are well informed on what’s happening in the world. From their point of view, it is us lefties who are misinformed and daft. No wonder we can’t get anything done. With feet firmly planted in concrete and being unwilling to entertain another point of view is a recipe for disaster. And that can apply to both left and right. Being doggedly stuck to your own point of view without at least examining the merits of the others views will leave you stuck and no closer to a solution.

Unless and until we can get both sides willing to search for our common wishes and dreams, we are doomed to stay mired in dissatisfaction and frustration. We put the focus on what divides us and Fox seems to specialize in this tactic. I hope one day before I leave this earthly plane, I will see the change that needs to happen to make real progress for our nation. But I am not holding my breath. 😉

How do we fix this short of closing down Fox News.

There is a misinformation revolution going on right now. The right is trying to push fake narratives in an attempt to brain wash people. Just look at Fox News and now the Sinclair deal.

We have to know what the real facts are so we can prove these narratives wrong. We have to be able to set these people straight through awareness of real factual information.

There is a information revolution going on right now.

Since trump we have reached a point where our love for each other is stronger than our political beliefs. We no longer talk politics. Both of us enjoy each other's company now.

and Fox News’ was 66 (flat vs. 2016).

but she made the national scene knowing virtually nothing beyond a poor ability to parrot foxnews talking points.

donnie is really no better than this, and i have to chalk up the greater acceptance of donnie to sexism.

point is, there's a whole generation of republican "leaders" who in fact do little more than whatever foxnews tells them to, nearly always using the exact buzzwords and insults and smears and emotional affect that foxnews uses.
