According to Steve Schmidt, he is. I understand Dwayne is a very nice guy, but seriously??
As we are now seeing, much to our detriment, this is not the position for a political novice.
Let him run for local/state office. Get his feet wet and some governmental/legislative experience. He's young. He's got time.
But to think he's a great candidate, based on his celebrity - can we, as a country, get any more irresponsible?? I think not.

(30,481 posts)I dont think he will but who cares. He might bring a different set of eyes to our debates. Non voters among them. Some might even stick around. We should take all the buzz we can get. Then again, the biggest impact he could have would be to vocally support and campaign for our nominee.

(56,829 posts)They also had Fred Grandy, Fred Thompson and Sonny Bono and others. And, remember when Obama was running for senate, there was a lot of talk that Mike Ditka would challenge Obama?
Not many Democratic celebrities seem inclined to run for office. I only remember Cooter from the Dukes of Hazzard. Why no George Clooney or Ben Affleck? They both seem well informed on politics.

(99,716 posts)Actually the former was a sports star and scholar.
I have no idea where this guy stands on things, except I seem to recall that he was a support of GWB.

(7,400 posts)And having said that I know that George Clooney has been speaking out politically for years, while Dwayne Johnson was prancing around in wrestling tights. So I can see where Clooney might have a real interest. Johnson just seems like a guy that wants to see how far he can go. We have one of those already.

(3,433 posts)I am so over the notion of celebrities running for higher office because they might get the attention of some voters. We need experience as much as we need a liberal background and agenda.
