I had noticed that my favorite local news was seeming more conservative. Crap!

For quite a while now it seems like any time there is a politically volatile issue, they give a disproportionate amount of air time to the conservative "take" on the issue. Then they allow a much shorter alternative viewpoint, if at all. This station has always bragged about "getting the facts."
So I just googled Sinclair and looked at a listing of their stations. Sure enough, WCYB, channel 5, Bristol, VA, was purchased by Sinclair in 2017.
I guess I'll be watching channel 11 from now on. Fine with me.

Twitter users responded in disbelief and anger over a video compilation of local news anchors across the country being forced to read a script reportedly created by Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest owner of television stations nationwide.

In the script, reporters are made to describe “the troubling trend of irresponsible, one sided news stories plaguing our country,” claiming some outlets publish stories “without checking facts first” and certain members of the media “push their own personal bias and agenda.”

The haunting video was posted by Deadspin on Saturday after reports emerged about Sinclair’s script and requirement for all of its stations to broadcast “must-run” conservative segments.

It's straight up right-wing state-run propaganda. Between them and Fox, the country will be even more brainwashed.

How do we fight against this? Trump's approval rating is going up still. I have a bad feeling that Republicans are going to maintain power and Trump will get re-elected. This country is doomed.

But all the news stations in the area are somewhat conservative.

I did find it interesting that sinclair buys a lot of stations in bright red areas. Easier to brainwash the sullied.

I never watch their news, anyway, but I always tune in at 11:30 to catch Stephen Colbert.
