if he doesn't want it, but register for it.

If they did, gun control would be enacted in a month.

Pew in 2017 found that 36% of whites owned a gun, 24% of blacks. (Yeah, it's a 50% difference, but recently somebody was given a pass saying that blacks were 25% of a population when they were 11%, and the response was, "It's only 13%." So in this case it's even less, only 12%.)

For men, specifically, 48% of white men say they own a gun and 24% of black men do.

This is based on self-reporting. If somebody has a gun that they personally think is illegally owned or somebody in the household was listening who would object to having a gun in the household was present they may well not have given accurate information.

The way the debate's being driven seems reasonable. If you're in the NE, urban, and educated you're at the intersection of three groups that have low gun-ownership rates. Those who drive the media are NE, urban, and educated. Even if they aren't a majority, they tend to drive opinion for those who hold them in prestige. Their WEIRD, in other words.

To squeeze out your "not that different" narrative, you are also assuming that only black men own guns among black people, and no black women do.

But whatever.

Gun-toting protesters, including one with assault weapon, mill outside Obama speech in Arizona

About a dozen people carrying guns, including one with a military-style rifle, milled among protesters outside the convention center where President Barack Obama was giving a speech Monday — the latest incident in which protesters have openly displayed firearms near the president.

Gun-rights advocates say they're exercising their constitutional right to bear arms and protest, while those who argue for more gun control say it could be a disaster waiting to happen.

Phoenix police said the gun-toters at Monday's event, including the man carrying an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle slung over his shoulder, didn't need permits. No crimes were committed, and no one was arrested.

The man with the rifle declined to be identified but told The Arizona Republic that he was carrying the assault weapon because he could. "In Arizona, I still have some freedoms," he said.

"Well regulating their militias".

Open and shut case, I would say, after seeing these guys walk around with weapons in seemingly disorder and without any leaders or discipline.

The narrative will be hard to change as they are not actively having to face of actually of defending their lives with them. We have become jaded with the lore of deadly weapons and think they are just normal things because of not seeing what they do in real life mostly.

You find out it's not a cool thing when you see friends or ones close to you being damaged by them

There's a bunch of good articles on the Jim Crow gun control laws passed in the south, as well as 'immigrant' control in the northeast. (See e.g. the Sullivan Act in NY.)

Every post suggesting POC purchase firearms en made acknowledge that racism. They are perfectly willing to tap into that racism if it reaches their goal rather than oppose such racism and declare all should be treated equally.

There's a lot of people who can't wait for society to break down so that they can bully their neighbours freely, shoot people on sight and put women back in their place.

On prepper websites, one of the top five catastrophes that they are prepping for is "urban unrest" (i.e. black people coming into their neighbourhood in droves).
