But one thing is for sure: Leaving Syria now or in the next couple of years will leave the field wide open for an ISIS resurgence.

(25,895 posts)as I probably should. I have some awareness of my degree of ignorance, especially here on DU when I see conversations about things I know nothing about.
But I'm not the President. If I were, I'd sure as hell be reading up on all these things, just so I'd have some hope of being up to speed on what's going on out there. But this President? He won't even read the daily briefings they prepare for him. I'm actually a bit surprised the military hasn't staged a coup, but it's probably good they don't do things like that.

Trump's "go it alone" attitude is dangerous. He's making ill informed decisions on policies that will affect the US for years to come.

(25,895 posts)If you're the President, you need, good, capable people around you, not cronies. You need smart people who are experts in different areas, and you need to listen to what they tell you.
I, PoindexterOglethorpe am a citizen who tries to stay reasonably well informed, but when I don't, it hardly matters. I might make ignorant statements about things, but nothing I say or do affects anyone else. Other than maybe annoy them.
Trump's ignorance is truly dangerous.
