I see lots of names on that list i find far funnier than Barr, and much further down the list. So, this is strictly subjective.

And having seen a couple of her specials from back in the day, i thought she was funny, but "one of the best of all time" seems overstated, by quite a lot.

I was never a huge fan, but I know personally (my son is in the business) and I have a close friend who is a SAG actor who knows a lot of the big names in comedy from the 70's and 80's and they ALL say this.

This isnt my opinion. I think she was good, but when I heard all of these stories I was also surprised.

For instance did you know most actors think Laurie Metcalf is one of the greatest actors alive?

raging. So I watched the show to see what all the fuss was about and sorry, I thought it was funny. If anything, Roseanne comes off as the butt of the joke. I like all the other members of the cast so I intend to watch it again.

I mean, there is a bit of whitewashing going on, Roseanne (the actress) is portraying Roseanne (the character) and Dan as "bigots who mean well" as they try to relate to their grandson who wears what are regarded as women's clothing. But intelligent people, i.e. DU'ers, should be able to easily see through that and resist it.

Even as a guy, I quite identified with Darlene in the original show, and hope the focus remains on her and her kids going forward.
