The USA doesn't own the gold medals.

I am happy to see other countries win some also.

It was close.

effort, time to considered. he did it prior. the norm would not be the same intensity. but...

his time made it to the olympics. and even a fourth, in the olympics is not something to shrug about.

i hear ya though

maybe he had to see if he still had it.

I can understand him wanting to try one more time.

He has been swimming for so long.

He almost had gold today, he did really well.

He has silver now.

It would be kind of sad to see such a great career end on a low note and then have the Bob Costas' and Matt Lauer's of the talking head zombie coalition talk about "how sad it is he ended that way" for the rest of his life.

He's way too talented not to. He looked fantastic here, and it's actually incredible he finished 4th yesterday considering he only trained for that event for 9 months, whereas everyone else has since the end of the Beijing Olympics.
