Tweets from Vets for Gun Reform

I served 6 years as an Infantryman where I trained tirelessly on the M4(AR15) weapon system. 2 combat tours in Iraq and I can say that NO average citizen should own one. #VetsForGunReform

I've had my share of firearms. I've been through my share of firefights. And I still support the right to keep and bear arms.

I do not support idolization of guns, uncontrolled proliferation of guns, and lack of responsibility when there's misconduct with guns. #VetsForGunReform

I served 24 years as an Army infantryman so I know this to be true:

An AR-15 is an M16 without selective fire. It’s designed for one purpose: To kill humans efficiently and with minimal training of the shooter.

It has no useful civilian purpose.

#VetsForGunReform

I was a second class petty officer in the U.S. Navy. The difference between our M-16 and an the AR-15 is negligible at best. Neither belong in the hands of civilians. We must do better. #VetsForGunReform

A decade ago, I was serving my second tour in Iraq. If you want to play with an AR-15 style weapon, grow a pair and join up, or shut the fuck up. These weapons have no place in our homes, our streets, our schools.

shut the fuck up. No civilian needs to carry arms designed for war. If you want to carry these weapons, man-up and enroll.

idolize guns. I have seen my share of people who have seen war and who have lost people in war. The last thing they reach for in fun is a gun. Of course, that is my parents generation and they faced real war and did not play computer games that seem to be all about war and destruction.

gun lovers always use the argument that people don’t know what they’re talking about concerning these weapons. The vets are experts and prove them wrong.

10. Ask them if they would be willing to ban full-auto from all military use.

Then we would see them change their tune about the AR and M16/M4 being the same.
