(6,916 posts)This shows Pennsylvania between about 3rd and about 6th. About 3 streets. In reality the rally extended to 15th, 9 more streets. And the area north of Pennsylvania was filled with people (only entrances were from the north).
This is probably 15% of the total number of people. It was huge.

Everything is bigger than Trump's inauguration. His metro ridership was lower than any typical weekday.

(1,294 posts)The MFOL teams used a lot of help and insight from the Womens March communities.

(14,492 posts)The wit I see on protest signs keeps me rolling every time we have a big one (the Women's March was cool). I'm a damned 'ole engineer (retired) and our wit is pretty dry - so this gives me lots of giggles and HOPE! Makes this old man feel good on blue days.
As much as I despise social media (old-fashioned me), some say that it is helping these movements spread and grow like 10X faster than before, so it's great that's happening. I hope they can keep this momentum going!

(297,323 posts)it really does help the Organizing of these March for our Lives KIDS and the Women's March.
I don't do twitter, either, but I think it's mostly a good thing.. and these KIDS have it WIRED!
I think they will keep the Momentum Going because their Cause is their Very Lives! And, not just their lives, but when it hits anybody.. they're all affected.. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.. but GD if it does.. Well it will.. I don't even know want to imagine that happening.. I just hope it doesn't.

(14,492 posts)These kids could probably come up with viable ideas for protecting our schools from terroristic acts as well or better than politicians. My daughter is a 5th grade teacher, and I'll get her feedback on that concept.
Of course, the right-wingers will totally scoff at that idea......
Another thought I had is that these kids, their families, and the teachers are going to need psychological support for a long time. But, being involved in this movement is GREAT therapy (probably better than a shrink)!
Have a great (Stormy) Sunday, LOL......
Cha
(297,323 posts).. having a daughter who's a 5th grade teacher.
I've read David Hogg says that his school is l like a prison now.. I know they'd like to change that. Bless their brilliant hearts
And, Yes! These KIDS Protesting is the First Time this has happened, so they have created a built in psychological therapy for themselves.. the very best kind, while advocating for Sensible Gun Laws.
Thanks for sharing that, KYEG.
Here's to a very Productive Stormy Sunday!

(6,916 posts)At 1pm, people were still walking south to Pennsylvania in large numbers.
The image above at noon shows the densest crowd ends around 11/12th St.
At 2pm, the area at 12th was completely filled and Freedom Plaza (between 14th and 15th) was totally packed. You can just see 15 and Pennsylvania at the top edge here. 2 hours after this pic was taken there were way more people there.
