NRA concerned? Yes. Down for the count? Not here.

Went to my rural town today (population 2500). MFOL not even on the radar. I imagine it's pretty much the same in small, rural, conservative towns all over the nation.
The majority of locals see MFOL as more "libtard, snowflake, city-people bullshit." Oh, I'm sure a few students support it, but if you think they and their parents are going to commit social suicide by publicly supporting MFOL, think again.
The NRA is still strong in rural America and it will keep using the same old us vs. them fearmongering it has used for the past 40 years to keep itself relevant here.

BTW: My wife and I think MFOL is great.

and these old shits were naming off all the things that killed more people than guns per year, or at least did in their tiny petrified minds. These people are going to be left in the nearest La Brea Tar Pits of history.

I grew up in a small town where half the guys drove pickups with gun racks and guns. Perfectly normal, when deer season arrived, the liquor stores and gun stores (one liquor store down the street also sold ammo) opened early.
I never had a problem with that. Deer hunting was actually necessary, after all their predators had been killed off and the population boomed beyond sustainable, and it got guys out into the bottoms where they could enjoy the hunt. There is value in that, especially when the government was drafting young guys to go kill. Familiarity with firearms was useful. But guns are not needed in cities, except for law enforcement. NRA has twisted the argument beyond reason. The gun fetishists forget the "well-regulated militia" part of the Second.

We do not need to cater to rural rednecks with guns. You are right that the NRA has had everyone convinced that a majority of the population was in favor of balls-to-the-wall second amendment rights. It simply isn't true and politicians need to hear this loud and clear.

but I'm visiting my dad in small-town hyperconservative rural America. I just finished marching with a bunch of inspiring strangers.

I was pleasantly surprised at the turnout in this shithole town.

Sorry your experience wasn't the same.

and then it blew-up. Afterwards I went to my watering hole and heard to the cooks complain about "those stupid idiots" and then silently listened to a plethora of their tired logic.

I was legit inspired though by the march here.

NRA is dead. Many young ones in rural America are killed by guns.

is akin to a scarlet letter, those who do support the NRA will be committing social suicide...one thing about rural voters, there are not that many of them.
