LONDON (AP) The Latest on the alleged use of Facebook data to influence the U.S. presidential election (all times local):
11:15 a.m.
Company filings show that Trump-affiliated data-mining firm Cambridge Analytica has a link to a Chinese security and logistics company run by Erik Prince, the former mercenary who founded private military company Blackwater.
British corporate records show that Alexander Nix, the suspended chief executive of Cambridge Analytica, is also director of a company called Emerdata Ltd. that was incorporated in August 2017.
Other Emerdata directors include people associated with Cambridge Analytica, along with Johnson Ko Chun Shun, who was appointed in January.
Ko is also deputy chairman of Hong Kong-based Frontier Services Group, whose chairman is Prince.

Random chance that Prince would "run into" a Russian who is connected to
Putin on an island in the Indian Ocean 1,000 miles off the coast of Africa.

(70,598 posts)For Erik Prince to meet up w/a Putin ally, a middle east banker (UAE Royal), and
a Lebanese-American middle man where he was an envoy for the incoming
Trump admin. by random chance is just a lie.
BTW that meeting broke all kinds of laws too.

Blackwater founder held secret Seychelles meeting to establish Trump-Putin back channel
The United Arab Emirates arranged a secret meeting in January between Blackwater founder Erik Prince and a Russian close to President Vladimir Putin as part of an apparent effort to establish a back-channel line of communication between Moscow and President-elect Donald Trump, according to U.S., European and Arab officials.
The meeting took place around Jan. 11 nine days before Trumps inauguration in the Seychelles islands in the Indian Ocean, officials said. Though the full agenda remains unclear, the UAE agreed to broker the meeting in part to explore whether Russia could be persuaded to curtail its relationship with Iran, including in Syria, a Trump administration objective that would be likely to require major concessions to Moscow on U.S. sanctions.

Prince was an avid supporter of Trump. After the Republican convention, he contributed $250,000 to Trumps campaign, the national party and a pro-Trump super PAC led by GOP mega-donor Rebekah Mercer, records show. He has ties to people in Trumps circle, including Stephen K. Bannon, now serving as the presidents chief strategist and senior counselor. Princes sister Betsy DeVos serves as education secretary in the Trump administration. And Prince was seen in the Trump transition offices in New York in December.
U.S. officials said the FBI has been scrutinizing the Seychelles meeting as part of a broader probe of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election and alleged contacts between associates of Putin and Trump. The FBI declined to comment.

(2 posts)Erik Prince, like Donald Dump, like his own sister Betsy DeVos, like the Kook (Koch) brothers, is another case of a rich A$$ with too much time and money on his soft, white, un-Calloused hands. Another example of how we need to get money out of politics and tax the hell out of the 1%.

(4,037 posts)But at least, were getting a glimpse into how the other world (real world) operates. Most of us, myself included, prefer to put turmoil out of our minds - its easier that way- and either become complacent or just plain ignorant to the ugly realities that rule our planet. What we dont know, understand, or comprehend, is the depth and influence of the organizations pulling the strings. And even if we did, will anybody get off of their Lazy Boy recliners and take action? I doubt it, which is why I take John Brennens comments about Trump very seriously. We need to be concerned. Our democracy is at risk per Mr. Brennan, and after all, he only ran the CIA for five Presidents, both Republican and Democrat.
