During a Saturday morning interview on CNN, Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA) harshly criticized the Trump administrations decision to fire former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, adding that he doesnt think it bodes well for his party.
Candidly, it looks like retribution and a bit vindictive, Dent said. And I think its unfortunate. The man said hes resigning, and on a Friday night before his 50th birthday, hes fired to take away his pension? I dont like the optics of this. I really dont.
Dent said he thinks the attorney general made the decision under pressure from President Trump. Trump has repeatedly publicly demanded that Sessions fire McCabe, who is potentially a key witness in special counsel Robert Muellers investigation into the president for possible obstruction of justice.
I have to tell you, it looks like the attorney general may have been browbeaten into this, Dent added. Hes been publicly humiliated and shamed by the president on multiple occasions, and I just dont think this bodes well.
Dent linked McCabes firing with his partys struggles in recent special elections including the loss of a seat in a deep-red district in his home state last Tuesday.
We just had a special election on Tuesday. And all this continuing chaos and drama that were seeing with the Tillerson firing, the McCabe firing, Stormy Daniels, all this stuff, this is having an impact on Republicans down ballot. If people didnt get the message on Tuesday, I hope they get it now.

(28,270 posts)And well he should be. This BS firing of McCabe just made the midterms even more blue than before!
If the criminal in charge at the white house goes after Rosenstein or Mueller the fucking republican party will be executed in the midterms by the American voter and the democrats will regain the House and Senate!
The House impeachment and Senate trial of Putin's puppet will begin the next day!

(48,978 posts)I like Charlie Dent's willingness to critique Trump. But it's sad that the only GOPers who seem capable of honest criticism of Trump are the ones who aren't planning to run for reelection.

And when the 'knife goes in' it will be those 'closest', the GOP'ers he turned on, with their hand on the blade.
