First, I know most everyone knows this but it's telling again, RCP only puts the state in the lean or likely column if the candidate has a consistent average of over 50% from the collected poll data.
Turns out that looking at all the toss-up states, President Obama is ahead in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio and Virgina, but just not over the 50% plateau. There is only one state, North Carolina that is tending toward Mr. Romney. And that is only by .4%.
Looking into these numbers as they solidify, it looks as if the vote, if nothing drastic happens between now and November, may be close but the EC will be large for President Obama.

(11,495 posts)Even though the right, and the right owned MSM, are trying to paint this as a "close" race, Romney is going down as far as people liking him, and the more he opens his mouth, the worse things will get for him. Another problem that is not being talked about, especially in the MSM, is the fact that a lot of the "christian conservatives" are having a very hard time with voting for someone they believe is a member of a cult, and who does not worship they way they do. Preachers in churches around the country have taught that Mormons are not real christians, that they have their own book of Mormon, and that they have strange beliefs that are not from the "real" Bible. While some of these so called "christians" may be able to vote for Romney, even if he is a cult member, simply because they "hate" Obama, a larger number of the "really" radical members will NOT vote for him no matter what. They may have been republican votes for years, this time they have to chose between voting for a cult member, or simply not voting at all, and many of them just won't vote, period!
Another big problem for Romney is he is kissing up big time to the teabagger crowd and that is turning off a lot of moderate republicans who just don't like the teabaggers. If he moves to the center more to pick up those moderates, well he then runs the risk of making the crazies in the party mad, so he has put himself in a very tough position. Let's also no forget that he has alienated the Spanish voters, the Muslim voters, women, gays, and I am sure other groups. The guy is a walking disaster for the republican party, and they can try as hard as they want to convince people that Romney has a good chance, but in reality it just don't float!
And after his trip overseas, well who knows how many more people he will tick off!

(14,177 posts)Zero, zip, nada. The blue states hate his guts and have for a long long time, not just for this campaign. There has been talk about how stupid he is for years at least here in Minnesota. Romney is toast and I am enjoying watching him burn. I think Obama will get well over 300 EV. I can't wait for Romney to slink off into obscurity.
