Just days after the still too-close-to call special election for Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District, it appears that Democrat Conor Lamb will seek reelection in state's new 17th Congressional District this fall, setting up a likely match with GOP Rep. Keith Rothfus.
Republican Rick Saccone, who competed against Lamb Tuesday night, is gathering petitions to run in the new 14th Congressional District in November, he tweeted.

I think both Dem candidates live in the new district.

Lamb won the 18th District but will now run in another district?
Does the 18th district not exist anymore?

(60,010 posts)All that money spent for a contested election that is now void.
Happy to hear how much $$$ Koch and the rest are throwing away, tho.

(11,744 posts)The election was decided upon prior to the PA Supreme Court deciding that the Republican Gerrymandered districts were unconstitutional. The decision causes all districts to be redesigned to reduce the Gerrymandering.

(15,290 posts)PA state supreme court rules the current districts were unconstitutionally drawn. They gave the GOP legislature 3 weeks to draw/pass a new map that would be signed by our Dem gov. When that didn't happen, a special master appointed by the court drew a new map.
Lamb now lives in the new 17th CD (western part of the old 12th CD), Saccone lives in the new CD 18 (City of Pgh and southern/east suburbs). Dem Mike Doyle is the incumbent, and favorite, in the new 18th. R Keith Rothfus is the incumbent in the new 17th. The new 14th is an open seat.

I believe there are now 3, including Lamb, Dems lined up for the primary. They will be courting the Beaver County Dems for their endorsement next week.
