We had a local election where we threw out the useless Supervisor and now control the town board...

Excellent. If you win locally, you will win district-wide, state and national elections too.

and, of course, we're gearing up to take our congressional seat back.
Except for joking around the lunch tables, never, EVER, are Washington foibles brought up. We have more than enough local problems to deal with, and the locals are watching.

It's simple. Focus on your local elections. The rest will follow, if you can turn out the voters.
