Does the new PA Congressional map go into effect (Original Post) edhopper Mar 2018 OP
Yes, it does. It should result in Dems picking up 4-5 seats in PA alone. bearsfootball516 Mar 2018 #1
I would say more than that edhopper Mar 2018 #2

They had mentioned they wanted to impeach the Democrats on the state Supreme Court in order to get their way.

Would love to see Pennsylvania carry through to NC, TX, MI, OH and WI as well. Just fixing those states to be on a non partisan basis would likely result in at least 10-15 additional seats for Democrats, if not more.

Even though they're not as gerrymandered, every GOP held seat in both states is on the DCCC's target list (they're not endorsing in primaries). I want to see them wiped out there.

For example Conor Lamb will run for reelection in a district that was +3 Trump instead of +20 Trump in 2016.

New 18th - city of Pittsburgh, south suburbs
New 17th - north suburbs, Ohio Valley, east to Beaver County
New 14th - Washington, Greene, Fayette and western half of Westmoreland counties

The 18th District will include Mount Lebanon, and all of the city of Pittsburgh. So unless Conor Lamb moves he'll be running against Mike Doyle (D) who has been a Rep in the House since 1995. It's possible that Doyle may decide not to run again, but I'd say it's doubtful. Lamb will have to runin the Democratic primary against one of the best Representatives we have.

Here's more info on Doyle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_F._Doyle

FYI I don't see how Rick Saccone could run again for the new 14th District if he lives in Elizabeth. Elizabeth is also in the new 18th district where Saccone wouldn't stand a chance. Maybe he plans to move?

Maybe Lamb should move to avoid primarying a Dem. If people like him, I am sure they will understand.

Mike Doyle surely knows the Lamb family and he's supporting Conor's race against Saccone.
Maybe he's decided to retire, or maybe something else will happen.
I couldn't say.

On this map it seems to be inside the 18th. But if that's true then it's really good for Conor Lamb! I hope you're right.
On second thought: if his residence is so close to the line between 18th and 17th, maybe can can move a mile or two farther out.

Just sayin'
