Clueless GOPer Slams Student Activists By Comparing Guns To Homework

“Do we allow the children to tell us that we should pass a law that says no homework?” asked Porter sarcastically.

“Do we allow the children to tell us that we should pass a law that says ’no homework’? Or you finish high school at the age of 12 just because they want it so? No,” she continued. “The adults make the laws because we have the age, we has [sic] the wisdom, and we have the experience.”

Porter’s statement was not received well with the general public.

To conservative republican Elizabeth Porter, if the students had the right to finish H.S. at the age of 12, we'd still have at least 14 of those MSD students alive today. Schools are not safe and neither are gun laws allowing mentally ill terrorists to freely buying assault rifles.

they are about the most clueless idiots on the planet.

Your "age, wisdom, and experience" has enabled shooting deaths at a rate unseen anywhere else in the modern world.

It is not about the merit of the proposed legislation nor representing her constituents. It is all about the money.

6. 100% strong, she's voted 11 for 11 times in favor of pro-gun legislation.

Rep. Elizabeth Porter, R-Lake City, whose district touches a portion of Alachua County, has voted 11-for-11 in support of gun-related bills from 2011 through 2016.

She has supported decriminalizing the accidental firing of a weapon, prohibiting counties from imposing stricter gun control measures than the state, open carry on college campuses, and allowing people to open carry during evacuations and emergencies. She voted against HB 219 Tuesday.

In 2011, she co-sponsored a bill that allowed certain public school officials to carry a concealed weapon or firearm on school property.

7. This is a little off the main focus of the posts but still addresses the politician's stupidity.

She thought she was being cute by flippantly attacking the students movement as childish petulance. What she probably doesn't know or likely care about is that a lot of the research shows that homework doesn't actually add anything academically, especially the rote homework that is given to elementary aged children. Much academic research shows that allowing children to have free time after school while encouraging reading and learning math concepts naturally at home.

Granted, there are things like papers and projects which encourage independent study and hands on applications. Point being is that not only is the right winger callous and stupid on guns, she is also clueless on the topic she was using as a cudgel. The kids would also be right to advocate no homework because the research, like I am sure the research on gun violence (if the NRA stopped obstructing) would indicate that reducing access would decrease violence using guns.

Conservatives don't get public service. They see political positions as opportunities to lobby for whomever pays them.

Their idea of government has changed from "getting out of the way of business" to colluding with the wealthiest people to keep the money flowing and getting kickbacks and a cushy job when they get voted out or retire.
