A new tax scam

Scammers steal identity from tax prepares and then submit fake tax returns with large refund going to the victim's bank account.

But then the "IRS" calls, apologizes for the mistake and gives directions to where to send the money back.

The IRS identity theft number is: 1-800-908-4490.

Not until they convince the victim to wire the funds to them.

If the victim refuses or gets wise. The victim is still stuck with the Bogus tax return which was overfunded to his account. Funds that will need to be paid back with penalties and interest.

I think that the natural instinct of many, when they find extra money in their bank account is, oh that's nice. Let's see what happens next.

I think that they way to do this is immediately talk to the bank, the police and, yes, the IRS at that number.
