Condisleazy Rice attacks the patriotism (or lack thereof) of the American people

Condi Rice: American People Need To Be Reminded U.S. Is ‘Exceptional’

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice writes in the Financial Times that the American people need to be reminded that the U.S. is “not just any other country.” She writes:

… we are exceptional in the clarity of our conviction that free markets and free peoples hold the key to the future, and in our willingness to act on those beliefs. Failure to do so would leave a vacuum, likely filled by those who will not champion a balance of power that favours freedom. That would be a tragedy for American interests and values and those who share them.

Full paragraph:

The American people have to be inspired to lead again. They need to be reminded that the US is not just any other country: we are exceptional in the clarity of our conviction that free markets and free peoples hold the key to the future, and in our willingness to act on those beliefs. Failure to do so would leave a vacuum, likely filled by those who will not champion a balance of power that favours freedom. That would be a tragedy for American interests and values and those who share them.

US must recall it is not just any country

...to keep people free. It seems the excact opposite is the result...less freedom for the workers...and more money for those that people like Rice and Clarence Thomas love to serve!!!

But if you study the philosophy of freedom you will find that John Stuart Mill, for instance, did not so much include money in the idea of freedom. After all, if someone takes your dollar you can pretty much always get another dollar. It's not like locking you away in a dungeon somewhere, or killing you or a member of your family.

Yet these "conservatives" whine and whine about taxation, or paying to support their own government.

Their idea of "force" of course is not from any great philosopher. It's from third rate science fiction writer and serial killer apologist Ayn Rand.

I hold this against Ayn Rand--not capitalism or free markets. In fact the concept of lassaize faire capitalism works beautifully in an academic context where you want to study the economy. Radical capitalists pervert that concept, as they pervert the concept of freedom, when they attempt to use lassaize faire capitalism as a value of some sort.

more rapidly than laissez-faire capitalism. Look at history and read some Marx.

Virtually every fool that demands to be "freed from the tyranny of gubmint" is among the first to drop to their knees and beg, even demand, to be enslaved by a corporate master.

just forget parts of history..
with someone like condi, clearly on purpose. shes too bright.
the most recent of our history they like to act like never happened are the 1920s until the 1950s.

lets not forget who was in charge during the lead up to the great depression,
and how many democratic terms it took to fix most of it.

tho i do give credit to hoover for realising what a terrible mess he helped create , and signing the revenue act.

But she is an odd mix. I wonder whom she thinks she is referring to when she says "… we are exceptional in the clarity." When I think of her I think of her association with George W. Bush and the word "clarity" doesn't come to mind.

"Greatest foreign policy blunder in our history," that comes to mind. But "clarity?" Pfeh.

I notice this awe inspiring cheer leading item did not appear in the out of work gazzette or the homeless daily. Stop giving a pep talk to the very creeps that have caused so many in this country to feel down, to be down. They can't find a job, support their families, lose their home, car, their self worth by companies that insist they must chop off the American job in order to keep those profits up. We have lost representation because they only represent themselves.

a free market still has rules and regulations just as a free American society does. In America we get to vote for those that create the framework of society that we will live in. Without a framework all you have is anarchy and that does not make the majority freer that's why we voted your party's ass out of the White House and we will again!

What we've done is show the world that Capitalism thrives best in an undemocratic crony capitalist environment.

America descends into mass unemployment and China owns our debt. All because of free trade.

When this situation explodes in our faces it'll be those 'free markets' and globalism that are ultimately held to blame.

You will most certainly live to see that come to pass.

BTW... Kindasleazy Rice supports globalism.

and that would mean treating our own people with respect, dignity and fairness. Yes, we are exceptional- but exceptionally what is the question.
The idea that we are so far above everyone else is something that will be our undoing imo.
