Associated Press: The rollout of Brad Parscales announcement as Trumps 2020 campaign manager was not without a hitch. A statement released Tuesday by the Trump campaign attributed to White House senior adviser Jared Kushner was in apparent violation of federal law prohibiting the use of official titles in political work. The campaign used Kushners title and his position as an assistant to the president in its press release announcing Parscales role.
The Hatch Act bars government employees from using their official titles in political work. Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday all senior officials and Cabinet secretaries have been briefed on the prohibition.

(3,071 posts)1. Kushner accepts no pay.
Does the Hatch Act cover him. Dont think so.

(22,040 posts)4. That probably doesn't matter
After all, Kushner is still holding a government office with a security clearance. He is not a civilian and the use of his official title probably does violate the Hatch Act.
Regardless, this is consistent behavior by an administration that ignores or flaunts the norms and traditions of the presidency.
