I do not understand the lack of red hot outrage right now.

(6,095 posts)money to candidates, literally owning them, is the disgrace of this country and should be repulsive to everyone. We need publicity funded elections and no ad buys from outside groups. Getting money out of politics will solve our problems instantly!

Call them the antiNRA, or the antiguns lobby, or kids against guns (KAG) for everybody (except the NRA itself), who would advocate the extreme responsibilities that gun owners need to follow, e.g., gun safes, don't leave in cars where the guns can be stolen, better mental health evaluations prior to gun ownership, and so forth.
This is a role that the NRA is forsaking, by advocating the purchase of yet again, more guns! to address the yet again, more guns in this country held by perps and crooks. Thus, the equation seems to be going backwards, More Guns to counter more guns, etc.
I would think that one could find enough people to initially populate the headliner roles that the antigun lobby would push for, if you simply go to the relatives and / or victims of the latest 10 mass shootings in this country.
Enough people have been hurt by guns being used as weapons in this country, and most laws in this country reflect that already (crimes committed w/ guns etc.). I'm not advocating in any means the taking away of guns, or gun ownership (my dad loved guns, and as a hunter and former veteran (my dad), I can understand and respected this). My dad respected my position too, on the other hand (my one gun that I owned vs. my dad's 45 guns (he was a collector of guns, which unfortunately all burned when their house caught fire)).
This is why I don't understand why the NRA is so anti-gun responsible, I just don't understand it, and I think that they are inflaming the issue around gun ownership way too much. Any hint of a gun law, BAM! they are taking our guns away, etc. diatribe/hissy fit, which is not true of course.
