GOP Worries Sexting Scandal Could Cost a House Seat
February 26, 2018 at 8:46 pm EST
By Taegan Goddard

“Republicans are fretting that a front-runner for an Arizona congressional seat — a married minister involved in a sexting scandal — will pull a Roy Moore and hand the seat to Democrats if he wins Tuesday’s special-election primary,” Politico reports.

“The seat vacated by former GOP Rep. Trent Franks — who resigned last December over his own sex scandal — should be an easy hold for Republicans.”

“But a bombshell report of nude photos and text messages exchanged between the candidate, former state Sen. Steve Montenegro, and a legislative staffer — published just a week before the election — has left GOP operatives worried that ‘it could be Alabama all over again
,’ said Shiree Verdone, who ran Arizona Sen. John McCain’s 2010 Senate race.”

When the gop uses that expression, they mean the other side should have "family values" while they are free to act like out of control tRump clones. What can they expect, after covering for the groper-in-chief, payoff king in the WH? Another "man of the cloth"caught using that cloth to cover up his dirty deeds. Who would have expected this, apart from most democratic voters of course. If they are gop, they are hiding dirty secrets.

that Republican voters quit hiding behind their curtain and decide "Screw family values, we can't have Democrats keep winning. I don't care if we look like hypocrites, we're voting for the POS Republican."

but, if it is a close election (no idea on the polling), if just 5% of the Republicans decide not to vote or vote 3rd party, it could swing the election in a low turnout special election.

This may ruin his chances in the primary, but there's still another Republican running.

Still, he's a Trump bootlicker and a real piece of work. His tv ads are disgusting.

If he loses, then the Roy Moore stuff is moot. The entire premises is out.

No way a Democrat ever wins here. The retirees always vote their own selfish interests and ALWAYS vote their racism (a vast majority, not all).

run on family values, but fall far short of living them. On the other hand, there does not seem to be any coercion and she is an adult, so he is a notch above Roy Moore -which is admittedly setting the bar low.
I don’t know what is wrong with the Republicans. They are like villains in a James Bond movie, but they let their libidos block them from ruling the world. Dr. No and Goldfinger never let horniness ruin business.
This district is full of elderly GOMLs (stands for “Get Offa My Lawn!”, or being Arizona, should maybe be “Get Offa My Sand!”) and it will be interesting to see if they give a crap about this.
