Round Rock middle school students walk out to honor Florida victims

Some students at a Round Rock middle school participated in a student walkout Monday to honor the 17 people killed in the shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on Feb. 14, officials said.

The students walked out of class at 10:02 a.m. at Hopewell Middle School at 1535 Gulf Way in Round Rock, according to a letter Hopewell administrators sent to parents.

They were out of class for 15 minutes and then returned to their third period class, the letter said. It said “campus safety is our goal, therefore, students were monitored by administration during their walkout.” - Statesman, Austin, TX
