Parkland vs 60s Berkeley comparison

I recall one point that was often brought up about the protests in Berkeley during the Vietnam War was how for the first time you had a large group of relatively affluent white kids getting involved in politics, and I suppose some say they were instrumental in moving issues forward, gaining national attention.

I am feeling we have a similar situation where we have affluent suburban teenagers who have decided to take a stand, and moreover they are being noticed. I am so proud of them, and also at the same time saddened that there were others whose voices have been drowned out (perhaps from a place with a different demographic), and yet so hoping that this is the beginning of something larger.

But the Parkland kids remind me more of Occupy Wall Street. Either way, they're terrific.
