Regarding Arming Teachers In School - Here Is My Concern.....

how many police shootings have we experienced in the past year where police officers when seeing a gun or a person looking like they are reaching for a gun or a police officer in the heat of the moment - even if they didn't see a weapon - shooting the person and killing them. We've seen this countless times and even innocent people have been killed in the heat of the moment.

Picture a teacher now with a gun in hand protecting his/her students - and law enforcement officers rushing into a classroom - seeing a weapon in the teacher's hand. They don't know that that person is a teacher - and in the heat of the moment - without verifying - just shooting that teacher that had a gun in hand.

That is my fear - if we arm teachers. This is a very plausible outcome.

Mrs. Bamber was my first Latin teacher. She was petite, had a melodic soft voice, snowy white hair, and she was quite fond of lavender perfume. Her classroom would be one of the first targeted by a shooter familiar with the school and faculty, as was the case with Parkland and Columbine. Mrs. Bamber and her students would be sprayed with bullets while the “gun adept” faculty were still trying to ascertain where the shots were coming from.
