I tweeted him---@AjitPaiFCC and asked that he return the gift from the NRA!
So far he has not responded to several thousands tweets.

Anyone care to explain to me why the FCC thinks that the ethics rules allow Ajit Pai to accept the gift of an expensive handmade gun from the NRA, an entity whose interests he can affect (and has affected) by the performance of his official duties? Am I missing something?

The exception to the Standards of Conduct apply ONLY when you cannot affect the interest of the giver. But the NRA waged a campaign on net neutrality, so the NRA seems to think he can affect its interests

And the exception applies ONLY when the award is a bona fide public service award. This goofy "Courage Award" would not seem to qualify. They don't even give it on a regular schedule. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/02/23/nra-ajit-pai-cpac-award-423414

AND even beyond the Standards of Conduct, the ethics pledge that Pai signed bars gifts from lobbyists. (This is true whether the White House thinks Pai is covered by the old Obama pledge or the weaker Trump pledge.) AND THE NRA IS A REGISTERED LOBBYING ORGANIZATION!

So, what exactly is the FCC's analysis as to why Ajit Pai can accept an expensive gift from the NRA? I'd like to know if I'm missing something here.

I'm sure this gift is worth more than $200, so where is the FCC's written analysis? You know, the one the regulation requires FCC to issue.

Still no response from @AjitPaiFCC. He's been retweeting today but hasn't offered an explanation for the NRA's gift yesterday. Come on, Ajit. I'm sure you have your ethics officials' phone numbers in your cell phone. Did you call either Tom J. or Jane H. before accepting it?

Hello, @AjitPaiFCC. Looks like there are about 44,000 of us waiting for an answer to this question. Are you going to tell us about the ethics analysis for that fancy gun the NRA gave you, or is this the sort of thing you don’t think the American public deserves to know?
