Bernie Sanders bashes Trump tax law in Michigan

http://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2018/02/25/bernie-sanders-michigan-rally-taxes/110845174/

Lansing — Republican President Donald Trump won Michigan and the White House in 2016 because he appealed to voters struggling to keep their heads above water and told them he would defend their interests, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders said Sunday.

“Unfortunately, he lied,” Sanders told more than 1,000 supporters who packed an event center several blocks from the Michigan Capitol.

The Vermont Independent, who ran for president as a Democrat in 2016, railed against Trump for a recent tax law that he argued would primarily benefit the wealthy and corporations. He chastised the president for proposing a federal budget that would cut Medicare and other social programs.

“Donald Trump said he was going to stand with working families and take on the establishment,” Sanders said. “He has stood with the establishment and brought forth legislation that would do devastating harm to working families of this state and the entire country.”

From his position on guns to immigration, his career as a politician is very checkered.

"'the status quo is not good enough, we demand change"

That is a quote from the rally you mention. His career is a perfect image of working for the status quo. He is a career Independent with little to show when it comes to accomplishments. Politicians yelling at walls is par for the course.

Bernie doesn't vote for war. The Status quo Votes for $160 billion dollar pentagon increases, they vote to spy on us, they vote against Medicare for all and free college but at least they are more progressive than Bernie.

"The Status quo votes for War."

There is no value in that sentence as you thought.

"Bernie doesn't vote for war."

That is not accurate. He has a long history of voting to support war. A long history of it. His militarism goes so far that he supports failed military projects just to keep the funding going.

"Bernie doesn't vote for war."

What does that even have to do with anything? Strange. Deflection I'm guessing. I bet there is some grand point in there somewhere.

A big part of democracy is talking.

Bernie is wonderful at it.

Bernie talks. People listen and change their minds.

in 2020. EVERY candidate for President should do that.

If we're going to demand that the Republican release his returns, then we have to demand the same thing of our own candidates.

Bernie said they were too busy to assemble his records while campaigning in 2016, but now he has plenty off time to get them together.

Transparency should be a requirement for anyone running under the Democratic Party banner. It's not a requirement in the Constitution, but it can and should be a requirement for a party endorsement.
