Wouldn't this be a good argument in support of the mandatory health insurance portion of ACA?
"Persons at least 21 years of age may ride a motorcycle without a helmet if they can show proof of medical insurance coverage in the amounts of at least $10,000.00 that will pay for injuries they may incur in a motorcycle crash. "

(13,992 posts)Is that having adequate coverage is not a LOT more than having minimal coverage. Maybe the plan was, offer up a small "mandatory" requirement (which might be more politically palatable) in hopes that people will say, "What the hell" and spend the extra few bucks to get a policy that means something.
Just a guess, though...

(918 posts)whether I'm riding in a "Helmet Law" state or not.
I have since the day I kick started my first bike back in the days before helmet laws.
I still believe it's nobody's business but mine.
The state cannot protect citizens from drunk drivers or people texting with both hands (one of them swerved within six inches of me yesterday) while at the wheel of a Cadillac Escalade, but they persist in trying to protect me from myself.
I don't drink sodas or Big Gulps, let alone 32 ounce versions. I don't eat fast food of any kind. I don't fill up my shopping cart with potato chips, convenience foods or ground up, breaded chicken beaks. I don't smoke marijuana or snort cocaine.
But it is still nobody's business!
BTW: What part of the chicken is its nugget?
