Penn State supports students planning to take part in National School Walkout in aftermath of Parkland shooting



Penn State has shown support for individuals who are taking part in the National School Walkout, tweeting any students “disciplined for walking out” would not experience an adverse admission decision.

The announcement came earlier this weekend in light of a recent shooting that claimed 17 lives at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Activist groups have organized walkouts across the country on March 14.


Garnering much attention, Penn State's tweet has reached over 3,000 retweets and almost 11,000 likes, as of Sunday afternoon.

Penn State isn’t alone when it comes to supporting students who choose to participate in a walkout, however.

The University of Connecticut posted a similar tweet that disciplinary action associated with peaceful protests would not affect a student’s admission decision:
