The Associated Press reports:

President Donald Trump is telling the nation’s governors that he would have run into the deadly Florida high school shooting “even if I didn’t have a weapon.”

The president is again finding fault with officers who didn’t stop the Florida gunman who carried out the massacre earlier this month. Trump says the deputies “weren’t exactly Medal of Honor winners.” He tells 39 of the nation’s governors, “I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon.”

Trump is vowing to turn the nation’s “grief into action” following the mass school shooting that killed 17 people. Trump says that while “our nation is heartbroken,” the U.S. needs “to have action” on measures related to school safety and gun violence.

Apart from the fact that he's never done a brave thing in his life (and conveniently managed to avoid Vietnam), it would be colossally stupid to do that - you'd get shot and become useless. One of the important things they teach first responders is not to put yourself in unnecessary danger because if you're killed or injured you can't do what you're supposed to be doing. What does our big orange fake hero think he'd actually be able to accomplish by rushing unarmed into a building where there's a guy with an AR-15 who's randomly shooting people? Does he think he's Superman, immune to bullets?

I seem to remember during the campaign, there was a rally where some guy came up close to the stage and he cowered down while the SS circled around him to protect him. It was contrasted by Hillary Clinton having the same experience, but being poised and addressing the person coming up close.

Trump is a sad excuse for a person. It is easy to say what you would do in a situation, when you aren't in that situation. Trump has never shown, not even once, that he would put himself knowingly in danger to save someone else. If that had ever happened, you know that he would be screaming it from the rooftops.

John Kerry was awarded Silver and Bronze stars for actions he took to save his Patrol crew in Vietnam. He never touted himself as a hero. He never said hey, I am a tough guy who put myself out there and was brave. If Trump had ever received commendations for service, he'd still be wearing them pinned on his chest every day.
