USA Today reports:
The Supreme Court refused Monday to review a federal judges order that the Trump administration continue a program protecting undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children.
The denial leaves in place the popular DACA program, which has protected some 690,000 undocumented immigrants from deportation and enabled them to get work permits. The program had faced a March 5 deadline for congressional action set by Trump last summer.
Two federal courts have ruled the administrations action was illegal.
The justices could have agreed to hear the case this spring, leapfrogging a federal appeals court based in California that has been sympathetic to the cause of immigrants. They also could have overruled federal District Judge William Alsup without a hearing.

U.S. Supreme Court Rebuffs Trump, Wont Hear Immigration Appeal
February 26, 2018, 6:31 AM PST
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a Trump administration appeal aimed at ending deportation protections for young undocumented immigrants, steering clear for now of the debate over the fate of hundreds of thousands of people.
The justices turned away the administrations appeal of a ruling that has kept the Obama-era program in place. The rejection buys time for the so-called dreamers even as Congress has been unable to agree on legislation to give them permanent protection.

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to enter the national controversy over dreamers, turning down the Trump administrations request to immediately review lower court decisions that keep in place the program that protects undocumented immigrants brought here as children from deportation.
President Trump announced in September that he would let the program expire in March, unless Congress acted. Efforts on Capitol Hill to revive the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) as part of a broader deal on immigration policy have failed so far.
Federal district court judges in California and New York have issued nationwide injunctions against ending the program, siding with states and organizations challenging the administrations rescission. The court orders effectively block the Trump administration from ending the program on March 5, as planned.
