The deceased had forgotten to pay $15 for his gas at a gas station.

Some will have spousal abuse histories...
Some will have substance abuse issues....
Some will have anger issues.....
Some will suffer from anxiety, depression, or other ailments
Many will be afraid at times.....
Many who claim otherwise actually have no clue about gun safety or handling

And soon, some will be armed.

I was called on an alert after a teacher was assaulted (the teacher won the fight). The assaulter was sent to me and we went to the gym to clean him up. Following that he announced to me he was going to his car to get a baseball bat and finish the fight. I followed him out the door knowing I would have to confront him hoping law enforcement would arrive. They did arrive in time. I am so glad that no firearms were involved, they do not belong in schools unless you are actually law enforcement. This same school has armed teachers today partially due to this incident years ago. As the person who was directly involved years ago I do not support armed teachers.

Dittohead or clear-eyed rationalist doesn't change my calculus on this issue...there are instruments that schools NEED, like books, computers, smart boards, pencils and freaking paper (which many teachers cover out of pocket for their classes)...the one thing NOT needed on that long list? Guns. Ever.

Indeed, instances of racist, anti semetic staff with dangerous views being armed with GUNS is asking for serious problems!

I'm turning 60 soon, so maybe it's my age here, but when I went to high school, we didn't have armed resource officers. The only time cops came to the school was for drug issues or maybe undercover narcs. But they were never called for fights, even with teachers.

And in college, in the mid 70's in medford, ma, our campus police didn't carry guns. The students were safer that way.

Now, ughhh.

Of course, the biggest scurge back then was the saturday night special. Cheap, often unreliable small caliber revolvers. Dangerous enough at close range, but not a weapon of war.

Then the glocks started showing up, and the arms race ensued.

I don't what kids these days think. The gods have lost their minds......
