At least that is the twisted view of the religious right. They are determined to teach Christianity in our schools even if they have to convert every public school in to a private school. What does anyone think DeVos is there for. And we know that Trump supports their demands.
We are at a cross roads in this country. Do we allow these "businesses" to hide behind their phony religions to cover their actions? These actions being against every interest in this country. Do we allow them to push their theocratic tyranny at the expense of the US itself? Do we allow them to scrap the Bill Of Rights in the name of their pseudo Christianity?
They have already made great inroads with the help of this administration.

(82,849 posts)You know, feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, clothing the naked, defending the widow and the orphan. Set a base level floor for existence in the country. Once we've structured our society so that those who have much do not have too much and those who have little do not have too little, we can start discussing the particular brand of Christianity.

(10,303 posts)Having an official Church and an official version of Christianity does not make a Christian nation. England is not a Christian nation. However there's a whole load of Christ like attitudes that are in society ... e.g. feed poor, house homeless, heal sick. Though the Conservatives have been undermining this for decades.

I say that to anyone who thinks we need more religion.

(36,827 posts)We had daily prayers broadcast over the intercom when I was in school and there's still public schools that do this today. Many states allow alternative "theories" to evolution that are nothing more than thinly veiled theology courses.

(1,896 posts)It put the squeeze on the "democratic" states that had high local property taxes. The primary reason taxes in those states are so high is the cost of education. Nearly every one of those states features the nation's top performing schools. This is part of the strategy to make spending "liberally" on public schools unsustainable.
