(23,946 posts)Since the 13 indicted were the Russians, then the persons known and unknown to the jury must be Americans, either willing or unwilling co-conspirators. Indictments against Americans legally more challenging, and would need higher standard of evidence.

(9,670 posts)The foundation of his investigation is proving that Russia peddled its influence on the American elections. That's what this indictment does. Next in line is to develop a nexus between those indicted parties and their American counterparts. The web of criminality will spread far and wide. I think it will end up shocking us as to how many of our fellow Americans were complicit in the deceit. Most of them have become so rabidly partisan that they probably thought that their actions were justified and probably too stupid to realize that they were felonies. They've been fed the bullshit line that their worst enemy isn't the Russian interloper intent on discrediting and deconstructing America, but rather the liberal that they call their neighbor, the person who wants equal rights for all and fairness and liberty and a basic infrastructure that protects all of us in a land that can certainly afford it. They've preyed on the divisiveness inherent in modern America; in unchecked Capitalism with a capital C; in distorting rights that place us in peril and limiting those that give us our voice.
I pray that Mueller and his team are the one check and balance that our complicit Republican Congress refuses to be.
After Bush, America breathed a heavy sigh of relief that we would not allow ourselves to be duped again by charlatans and warmongers. We became complacent, mistakes were made, and Russian interference attacked us when we were weak and where we were most vulnerable.
If Mueller can restore order and justice, even temporarily, my hope is that we learn from this experience and take forceful measures that guarantee that the 30% of Americans who would gladly enable fascism are never again allowed to rule our government.

(19,204 posts)With a right-wing stacked Supreme Court it seems as if we're stuck with this colossal boondoggle for quite some time to come. We desperately need campaign finance reform and term limits, and Citizens United? That needs to be blown to smithereens, with no pieces left large enough to resurrect.

(51,611 posts)which has filtered down to effecting the SCOTUS for the nest 20+ years? What about all the Exec Orders and the new immigration, healthcare, and tax laws that have resulted in one year alone?!? What about our status as a respected country and world leader which valued Science and wanted to fight Climate Change? The list of damages is beyond comprehension from the treasonous bastards that did it all for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and power. There isn't a harsh enough punishment for them. The sad thing is that I doubt I will see my country recover in my lifetime or in the next 20 years.

(37,648 posts)Schiff has stepped up to the plate during this whole thing. I don't know how he does it. He's faced with the Russian lackey Repubs, even on the Intelligence Committee, on a daily basis.
Imagine what he's seen that we haven't.

(20,252 posts)I lavished praise on him in profusion. Again.
I read the 'Infantile's' collective playground names he contrived for The Most Excellent Adam Schiff.
Feel like busting one of my body's gaskets.
'Infantile's' doing damage to my wellness.
Said b4, I am Orthodox Christian 'practitioner' and we submit names that are read each and every service in front of our altar and Adam's name is spoken along with Robert's (you know who) for wisdom, protection and strength.
Please don't shout me down for saying that. Thanx.

(11,564 posts)I very much suspect that the things on which we agree - the ethos of any well-meaning person intended for the common good - are external and of more consequence to the collective, while any points of divergence are personal and private.
This is not an "enemy of my enemy" paradigm. All best wishes to you and your beliefs.

(20,252 posts)I embrace my Faith voluntarily. It's a vehicle for me. What I do with it in re: requesting intercession for any, does my heart good. It cannot be detrimental.
If I am sincere in following The Way, I am exhorted to "pray one for another".
A full fledged Democrat since 1965. I have difficulty speaking out to other 'christians' who are not and have the spectre on them for being responsible for the brazen one in the oval office.
