Axios: Trump pushing to have personal pilot run FAA

(CNN)President Donald Trump is pushing to have his longtime personal pilot, John Dunkin, to head the Federal Aviation Administration, according to a report from Axios.

Dunkin, who flew Trump's personal plane during the campaign, is reportedly on the short list for the top spot at the agency that oversees civil aviation in the United States. Dunkin has previously told people that he would often face delays while flying Trump around and that a pilot running the agency would prevent that.

Administration officials have been pushing back against industry critics of the potential appointment.

"John Dunkin isn't just a pilot," an administration official told Axios. "He's managed airline and corporate flight departments, certified airlines from start-up under FAA regulations, and oversaw the Trump presidential campaign's air fleet, which included managing all aviation transportation for travel to 203 cities in 43 states over the course of 21 months."

He could actually be qualified but it is just as likely this is nothing but complete and utter BS like everything else that has come out of this administration.

5. If the FAA is privatized....

.... will that make the comings and goings of domestic and international flights way more obscure and subject to way less stringent records keeping of take offs and departures, times, dates, locations and who or what was on those flights ? Will privatized control tower traffic make the work of customs far more difficult ? Will relinquishing air port control towers from the FAA over to privatized management make it far easier for international smuggling operations of money, people, and illegal goods such as drugs - stolen and/or black market goods if hidden away on private jets ?

Is this idea a gift to international crime syndicates to operate more freely with far less government scrutiny ?
