UtahPolicy.com: You may have thought the internal workings of the Utah Republican Party were really screwed up before.
But now get this: If former U.S. GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney continues gathering signatures as part of his U.S. Senate run this year, he may well be kicked out of the Utah Republican Party via a bylaw change adopted Saturday over the objections of party chairman Rob Anderson.
Romney has already announced that hes taking the signature route, as well as attending the April convention.

(82,849 posts)Synopsis: The Utah Republican party has a core of about 50 ultra-conservative hard-liners. While the party Central Committee comprises a few hundred members, these 50 folks can and have called snap CC meetings that the rest of the CC members don't always want to attend in remote corners of the state. As such, these hard-liners have been screwing around with the party by-laws in order to support the candidates they like and screw over the candidates they don't like.
Anyway, this is the way Republican hard-liners operate: They can't win through conventional means, like majority rules, so they fuck the system over to give themselves the advantage without having to do the hard work of building a coalition or promulgating workable ideas.
