If This NRA/RW Hate Talk/GOP Continues Gun Control Advocates Could Be Attacked.

It is only a matter of time before some gun nut takes out a legislator or other advocate of gun control. Attacks on these students puts them in harms way. As protests move forward pro gun elements will become more hysterical. People like Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Fox news hosts and guest et al are pushing the rabid GOP base to do something.

And yes I am being a alarmist. What happened to Gabby Giffords is a possibility as the atmosphere becomes more charges. GOP leadership is standing down and actually supports arming society, particularly the GOP base.

I just read a very good WaPo article, How NRA’s true believers converted a marksmanship group into a mighty gun lobby. "Grassroots" extremists took over an organization that had always supported gun control at a national meeting in 1977. ("The bylaws of the NRA gave members power on the convention floor to vote for changes in the NRA governing structure." A several-hour battle, but by 3 in the morning all the old guard was gone, and a bunch of extremists mostly in their 20s were in control.)

Interestingly, Wayne LaPierre is not even the most extreme of this group, or at least his considerable political skills kept him from officially competing for that honor. He eventually thought his more extremist friends and allies in the leadership were endangering the organization and so maneuvered to oust them, one method running Charleton Heston for president.

I have had very evil thoughts about what I'd like to do to some of these bloviating nut jobs. You think those with far more to lose than I do haven't thought about it? Those in pain right now? Of course, I know violence is not the answer and I would never advocate it. But it might not stop someone else.
