Guns have no place in a modern society. Gundamentalists and 2A addicts can go fuck themselves.

you really think all those police and politicians in all those pro-gun red states are going to have a change of heart and actually do that?

I mean, it is in the same sentence...and is the part missing from the sentence which is etched into the edifice of NRA national HQ.

membership in a well-regulated militia, in this age the National Guard, should be a pre-requisite for gun training and ownership. And that does not mean that every Guard member could carry a weapon, except on duty.

Single shot long guns could be allowed for hunting, but only after a prospective hunter passed a proficiency test.

The problem is the way the extremist insist on interpreting it, and insist that it trumps any other provision in the constitution.

Yes. It should be repealed. It's not that someone cannot by a gun, they just have to prove they need it. Unless things have changed, in the UK if you're a farmer and need a rifle to protect your livestock, you have to say, this is why
I need it. If you're in a profession that might call fora need for a firearm, private inquiry agent, maybe government official, you have to prove you need it. If you're a victim of domestic violence or feel you need a gun for protection, you have to explain to the police why you need it. You can't walk down to the corner store, slap down $130 and walk away with an AK 15 or whatever it's called. No one's saying you can't GET a firearm, you just have to prove you need it.

By the Second Amendment except a complete ban of firearms. I have often been told such a ban is NRA lies and propaganda; no one serious about gun control wants to ban all guns.

and women voting?

Why do we care that much what they thought, especially since they set up a system that would change as social attitudes changed? What we think is more important.
